The Luau
Above, scroll to the right to see our memories of past Luaus.
Laurel’s husband, Gary, and very close friend, Todd, held a luau in Todd’s backyard the year that she passed. In true fashion, her many friends came in good spirits. By the end of it all, they found out a jar had been passed around to help pay for the party. A fair sum was left over, and Todd and Gary decided they’d donate the proceeds to the Mountain States Tumor Institute, where Laurel had been cared for, for so many years. The tradition was carried on by the two for the next 13 years in a local Boise park, where they raised several thousand dollars each year, for that same cancer treatment center. Gary would go on to host the last two years without Todd, and now their children have taken over, to raise money for the Laurel's Legacy non-profit, in Todd and Laurel's honor.
